Australia's government is apparently speedrunning toward Robodebt 2.0, using algorithms and AI for automated decision-making with zero transparency or legislation. The Centre for Public Integrity is waving red flags about the lack of audits or public registers, but hey, what could go wrong with letting black-box AI make government decisions about people's lives? They literally already have a national scandal as a cautionary tale and still can't help themselves.
