A lawyer used ChatGPT to prepare a murder appeal and ended up citing completely fabricated witnesses and false testimony. When judges asked if he'd been paying any attention to the well-documented risks of AI hallucinations, the answer was apparently no. Nothing says 'zealous advocacy' like letting a chatbot invent your witnesses for you.
