Lawyer submits fake ChatGPT-generated court citations

New York lawyer Steven Schwartz used ChatGPT to research a legal brief and submitted it containing six entirely fabricated case citations. The fake cases, complete with made-up judges and rulings, were discovered by the opposing counsel. Schwartz was fined $5,000.
