Meta's own oversight board had to slap the company for leaving up deepfake videos targeting a UK politician and a Muslim woman — basically admitting their AI safeguards are about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. The board found Facebook's response 'inadequate,' which is corporate speak for 'we didn't do anything until someone important complained.' Nothing says 'responsible AI' like needing your own supreme court to tell you to take down obviously fake content.
