New York City to ban student AI use in public schools until high school

NYC is pulling the plug on AI for students through 8th grade after teachers and parents raised alarms about 'cognitive surrender' — aka kids letting chatbots do their thinking for them. The largest US school system apparently decided that maybe letting 10-year-olds outsource their brains to ChatGPT wasn't the educational revolution Silicon Valley promised.
