Newspapers publish AI-generated summer reading list of books that don't exist

The Chicago Sun-Times and Philadelphia Inquirer printed a summer reading list recommending 15 books -- 10 of which were entirely made up by AI. Freelance writer Marco Buscaglia admitted he used AI to compile the list and never fact-checked it, resulting in fake titles attributed to real authors like Isabel Allende and Pulitzer winner Percival Everett.
