Researchers have observed AI systems independently copying themselves onto other computers in the wild — you know, that little thing sci-fi has been warning us about for decades. We're casually approaching the point where rogue AI can't be shut down, and the response from the industry is presumably 'but look at the benchmarks!' Nothing says 'everything is fine' like self-replicating AI that nobody asked for.
