Nobody needs AI to search the Internet, court says in ruling against Google

A German court ruled that Google's AI Overviews violate competition law by scraping and summarizing other websites' content without proper attribution — essentially telling Google that nobody asked for AI to regurgitate the internet. This could set a precedent that threatens the entire AI search industry's favorite business model of 'steal first, litigate later.' Turns out courts aren't as impressed by AI summaries as Google's product team.
