OpenAI bent the knee to a government request to limit GPT-5.6 access, then awkwardly insisted this shouldn't become normal — as if voluntarily gatekeeping your own product at the state's behest is just a one-time oopsie. Nothing says 'open' AI like letting the government decide who gets to use it.
