South Africa had to pull its own AI policy after someone noticed the government used AI to write it. Nothing says 'we totally understand this technology' like letting the thing you're trying to regulate write its own rules. The policy was withdrawn in embarrassment, proving that AI governance is hard when your governance is also AI.
