The EU is coming for kids' AI companions with the EU Kids Act, planning to strip chatbots like ChatGPT, Character.ai, and Snapchat's My AI of everything that makes them appealing to minors. Turns out letting children form emotional bonds with AI chatbots wasn't the wholesome tech revolution companies promised. Brussels says if you can't make your chatbot safe for kids, maybe don't market it to kids.
