Seven Canadian families are suing OpenAI and Sam Altman after the company allegedly failed to alert police when ChatGPT flagged suspicious activity from a school shooter before a deadly attack in Tumbler Ridge. Apparently OpenAI's safety systems worked well enough to detect the threat — they just didn't bother telling anyone who could actually stop it. Nothing says 'responsible AI' like watching red flags roll in and doing absolutely nothing.
